You ... speak loudly in the library. A lot of students do their homework there.
Match the compound noun.
Last week, I
visited my grandparents at their farm. When I got there my grandma was feeding the chickens. The cows were eating grass in a field. My grandpa was riding a horse. Some sheep were walking across a field, when I saw them. I went to the house and we started having lunch.Dear Liam,
How are you?
We had an unusual start to our summer holiday this year. My family and I were on the train to Manchester. It was a long journey, but it was comfortable and we all fell asleep. Suddenly, we heard the train's whistle and we all woke up. "Oh no, it's eight o'clock! We missed our station!" Mum said.
We had to get off at the next station. Dad asked the ticket seller the time of the next train back to our station. But he said, "There aren't any more trains today. The next train leaves tomorrow morning. But I can book you into a hotel. Follow me."
On the way to the hotel, I was disappointed because the town seemed small and unexciting. But in the town centre, we saw some fireworks and heard some music. There was a festival and a fair! After we checked into a hotel, we went and joined the festival. We had a fantastic evening and it was a brilliant start to our holiday!
Write soon to tell me about your holiday.
From,
Ben

Avoid junk food and sweet or salty snacks. Your body uses the energy in food in different ways. Food with lots of sugar gives you lots of energy very fast. But when the energy is gone, you can suddenly feel tired. It's better to eat food that gives you energy more slowly, so you can work and play for longer. Fruit, potatoes, bread and cereals are good sources of slow energy, so try to eat lots of these.
Salty food makes you thirsty. If you don't drink enough water, being thirsty can make you feel tired or ill. Drink lots of water to keep your body and brain fresh. Try not to drink too many drinks that are full of sugar.
A healthy diet with lots of fruit and vegetables also gives you lots of vitamins. You need vitamins to keep your body and brain working properly. Raw vegetables and fresh fruit are great brain food, and they taste great, too! Why not put bits of fruit in a salad? It will taste great and look very colourful!

There was a surprise discovery in the middle of the town last week. Builders who were working on the new shopping centre in Princess Street found a Roman town when they started digging.
Archaeologists from the university arrived quickly to look at the site. "This is very exciting," said Dr Kovan. "We can find out lots of information about the way the Romans lived. "They have already found pots and coins, and lots of statues.
The site will be open to visitors next week. "We might have to wait for our new shopping centre," said the mayor.

The legend of Atlantis has fascinated people for thousands of years. According to the ancient Greek philosopher Plato, Atlantis was a powerful and advanced civilisation that existed more than 11,000 years ago. It was said to be located beyond the "Pillars of Hercules" — what we now call the Strait of Gibraltar, the narrow passage between Spain and Morocco. Plato described Atlantis as a large island with lush gardens, grand palaces, and a thriving society. The people of Atlantis were said to be wealthy and technologically advanced, creating incredible structures and using advanced tools that seemed far ahead of their time.
However, despite its great wealth and power, Atlantis eventually vanished without a trace. Plato wrote that the island was destroyed by a terrible disaster, possibly caused by earthquakes or floods. Over time, the island sank into the sea, and it was lost forever, becoming the stuff of myths and legends. Many people have tried to find the lost city, but no evidence has been discovered to prove that Atlantis ever existed. Some believe that Atlantis was purely a story meant to teach lessons about pride, greed, and the consequences of power. Others continue to search for it, hoping to uncover its secrets.
Throughout history, the story of Atlantis has inspired explorers, scientists, and even artists. Many books, movies, and documentaries have been made about the lost city, keeping the legend alive in modern times. While some think it is just a myth, others are convinced that Atlantis was real and may one day be discovered.
